The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS Youth Home Nereby operates in Harestad and Bergsjön. We conduct differentiated and high-quality educational, care, and treatment work. The operation includes a variety of professions, such as teachers, treatment pedagogues, psychologists, nurses, and more. SiS Youth Home Nereby accepts both school-age and non-school-age boys and girls with psychosocial issues, as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse.
Job Description
Do you want to help create life-changing differences for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your mission is to motivate our youth/clients to adopt new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and security of our youth/clients, and you are responsible for the foundation of daily life, such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You help maintain order and safety in the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work.
You will work on building secure relationships and contribute to ensuring that our youth/clients receive the safety and security they need to break old habits. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. Working hours are according to a schedule of days, evenings, and weekends.
Qualifications
Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformations. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of humanity, a strong empathetic ability, and the capacity to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can maintain your composure even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.
You should also have:
- At least a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
- B driver's license
- Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing
- Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., as a correctional officer
- Security guard training
- Experience from client-facing positions at the Swedish Migration Agency, e.g., as a case officer at the detention center
- Training in care and nursing
- Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care, young girls, etc.)

The position is a temporary position during the summer of 2026 for regular staff during the vacation period; hourly employment may be offered during the spring of 2026 until the temporary position starts.
